May the Peace & Blessings of Allah be upon you,
The West London Islamic Centre & Jamia Masjid is pleased to announce the official launch of its impressive and exciting re-development project. Having served the local community for the last 20 years, WLIC has played a central role in providing religious, social, recreational and educational facilities for the regional Muslim populace. Alhamdu’Lilah the Masjid has a reputable standing and prominence for the welcoming, considerate and organised culture evident amongst the attendees and workers.
Currently the Masjid is capable of accommodating 1000 brothers and sisters for Jumah prayer, the car park accommodates a further 200. The building is now quite dated, expensive to heat and maintain and requires major refurbishment works and extensions in order to accommodate the ever growing Muslim community. Following detailed discussions with architects and quantity surveyors the administration has taken the bold decision to demolish the existing facility and construct a new purpose built Islamic Centre and Masjid. The ambitious project, will Insha’Allah establish a facility centric and monumental Masjid in the heart of Ealing.
The Centre has been designed with education and social welfare at the fore, it will accommodate up to 3,500 people and will comprise six floors including a complete basement. This contemporary and highly developed building will be designed to be self-sufficient with provisions such as a publicly accessible restaurant, extended bookshop, circumcision facility, multi-function conference halls, lecture theatre, public library, fully-equipped and receptioned gymnasium, funeral unit, visitor accommodation, children’s crèche and most importantly a floor dedicated to a state of the art education suite. A focused and experienced WLIC Development Committee is overseeing all aspects of project delivery.
The project cost is estimated as £6.3million. InshaíAllah the Centre will need to raise £4million before works can begin and a new London landmark, Mosque and community centre is constructed. This huge financial target can not be achieved without our communityís moral, monetary and physical support and contributions.
The magnificent fruits and rewards of this unique endeavour are exceptional, as the Prophet (pbuh) stated:
'Whosoever builds a house (Masjid) for the pleasure of Allah, whether it be small or large, Allah builds for him a house in Paradise.' [Tirmidhi]
Please capitalise on this opportunity and participate in this noble cause and appeal by donating wholeheartedly today. Kindly complete the standing order form and commit either £25, £50, £75, £100 or whatever you can comfortably afford, alternatively please donate a lump sum of £500, £1000, £1500 or £2000 by making cheques payable to the designated development fund 'UKIM WLIC'.
